Course Description

 Introduction to the oxyacetylene equipment setup and cutting process.

 Introduction to proper joint preparation and SMAW (shielded metal arc welding) best practices.

 Introduction to MIG (metal inert gas welding).

 Introduction to TIG (tungsten inert gas welding).

 

Objective

The focus on this segment is to enable workers to safely and efficiently use the oxyacetylene torch and to be able to make sound cuts.

To be able to prep metal joints for each welding process.

To teach workers to use the equipment to its full potential.

Instructor to engage with each worker on a one to one situation to improve skill level.

Acquired Knowledge

Enable workers to safely setup equipment, knowledge of working pressure parameters in relationship to metal thickness to tip selection, and trouble shoot any problem areas with the oxyacetylene process.

Proper settings for amperage, welding  speed, and progression of travel in stick and mig welding applications. Ability to make the correct selection of electrodes in each welding process.

Course Schedule

This course consists of four sessions. Each session will be four hours in length. Beginning on Monday thru Thursday, with Friday being a feedback day from workers on material covered. This will allow them to put into practice what they have learned in the previous days instruction.
