Facilities

The Kern Community College District (the "District") includes most of Kern County (7,010 square miles), a small portion of San Bernardino County, the southern portion of Tulare County (2,955 square miles), and portions of Inyo and Mono Counties (totaling 12,000 square miles). The District currently operates three college campuses and three approved instructional centers.

The Kern Community College Safety, Repair and Improvement District (SRID) was formed following a public hearing on August 1, 2002, pursuant to California Education Code and proceedings taken by the District. Measure G was placed on the ballot for November 5, 2002, and the electors of the Improvement District voted on whether $180 million in bonds should be issued on behalf of the District. More than fifty-five percent of the electors voting on the proposition voted in favor of such issuance.

The Kern Community College District's Facilities Department, under the Finance and Administrative Services division, handles the procurement of construction contractor services for new construction, modernization, and scheduled maintenance projects per the bidding requirements under the California Uniform Public Construction Cost Accounting Act (CUPCCAA).

Consistent with the California Public Contract Code, the District solicits Invitations to Bid, Requests for Proposals (RFP), Requests for Qualifications (RFQ), or other formal methods of procurement for contracts exceeding bid limits.

Construction Bids

The Kern Community College District will conduct an ongoing auction of surplus assets. These assets have been approved as surplus in accordance with State of California Government and Education Code Laws regarding the sale of surplus goods. The District will dispose of surplus property by public auction, online auction platform, sealed bid, or other appropriate method of disposal.
