The Kern Community College District has appointed a former federal official to serve
as managing director of its California Renewable Energy Laboratory. Ellen Morris,
who in the late 1980s monitored oil well drilling operations in Kern County as a geophysicist
with Texaco Corp., worked most recently as director of university partnerships at
the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colo., where she helped KCCD establish
CREL.
