CREL is establishing a hub dedicated to carbon management education, workforce development, and community engagement. Our initiatives center on carbon dioxide capture, transport, and storage, with a strong focus on economic viability, environmental impact, and equity in implementation.
- Technology Demonstration Models: Develop workshops and demonstrations with interactive 3D educational models to raise awareness and understanding of carbon capture and storage technologies among students and local communities.
- Community Education: Engage local communities through workshops and outreach to build awareness and understanding of carbon management, industry application, utilization, and storage solutions.
- Research & Industry Collaboration: Partner with national labs and industry leaders to guide CREL’s carbon management initiatives by supporting applied research, technology development, and hands-on learning in carbon capture, utilization, and storage.
CRC Carbon Management Institute: Advancing Kern County’s Clean Energy Future
With support from California Resources Corporation’s Carbon TerraVault initiative, the CRC Carbon Management Institute is dedicated to advancing Kern County’s clean energy future through four core focus areas: research and innovation, community education, workforce development, and student engagement. The Initiative advances applied research in carbon capture and storage at Bakersfield College, offers community education through workshops and webinars, and provides hands-on STEM experiences to prepare the next generation of clean energy leaders.
