Celebrating Excellence: Cerro Coso Honors Program Recognizes 2025 Graduates with Awards and Accolades

The Cerro Coso Community College Honors Program celebrated its 2025 graduates at a recognition luncheon on Saturday, May 10.

The graduates, along with their families, friends, and faculty, participated in the event.

The event highlighted the achievements of students who completed the rigorous Honors Program designed for academically talented and highly motivated students seeking enriched educational experiences.

To earn Honors Program certification, students must complete a minimum of 16 units of Honors credit, maintain a GPA of 3.25 or higher in transfer-level courses, and meet Cerro Coso’s graduation or transfer requirements.

Seven students were recognized in the ceremony – Meghan Albro, Kailey Cook, Tomas Ellis, Samuel King, Kyle Sappington, Alexander Vargas, and Victoria Williams.

Graduates were awarded their ceremonial Honors cords and tassels, which they will wear during Cerro Coso’s commencement ceremony on Friday, May 16.

Meghan Albro and Alexander Vargas received the Honors Faculty Awards. Cole Gilmartin, a graduating Burroughs High School student, received the President’s Scholarship for exceptional academic performance.

College President Dr. Sean Hancock praised the graduates for their dedication, stating, “We are so proud of what you’ve achieved, and we hope your time here has helped you explore your passions, deepen your curiosity, and prepare you for the exciting road ahead.”

The Honors Program upholds Cerro Coso’s commitment to empowering students through academic excellence.
