Program Director, Community and Climate Initiatives
Aravinda Edussuriya brings 20+ years of public service experience to KCCD, where he leads clean energy education and community engagement initiatives that empower Kern County residents. His work focuses on creating community engagement programs that transform climate knowledge into tangible community action and economic opportunity.
Specializing in equity-driven program design, Aravinda bridges the gap between climate innovation and local needs. His background includes developing scalable workforce initiatives—from digital equity programs serving 15,000+ residents in Los Angeles County to creating employer-driven training pipelines in high-growth sectors.
Aravinda holds a Bachelor's in Community and Regional Development from the University of California, Davis, and a Master's in Educational Psychology from Pepperdine University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Education with an emphasis on human development.
Beyond his professional role, he mentors youth and is committed to exploring Kern County's diverse communities—learning how energy, agriculture, and community resilience intersect in California's Central Valley.
