Celebrating the Life of Jack Hernandez

On April 1, 2022, Bakersfield College and the Kern Community College District celebrated the life of Jack Hernandez. Over the course of his 41 years on campus, Jack Hernandez served as a professor, dean, founder of the Levan Center and inspiration to students. Jack was a prolific writer, penning plays, articles, essays and many, many poems.

The evening of celebration featured remarks, readings, stories and memories from family, friends and colleagues, to a backdrop of jazz music performed by BC professors Kris Tiner and Josh Ottum.
