KCCD - H1N1 Virus Information |
|
|
|
The CDC is optimistic and they indicate the virus is showing relatively mild
signs of a novel flu virus that appears to be similar with that typically caused
by seasonal influenza. CDC states that “Although many people may get sick, the
available data do not indicate we are facing an unusually severe influenza
virus." The virus is still present and new cases are confirmed daily. According
to the CDC, the H1N1 virus will likely reemerge in the fall with the
flu season. It is strongly recommended that now is not the time to become
complacent. Please be assured that the District will continue to monitor the
situation closely and will remain prepared of what may come in the future. |

Our incident command teams
will take this time to remain prepared, enhance emergency preparedness efforts,
and prepare for the next phase to ensure continuity of operations and services.
We would like to remind you to follow these five flu prevention tips:
br />
(1) Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the
tissue in the trash after you use it.
(2) Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or
sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
((3) Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
(4) If you get sick with flu, it is recommended that you stay home from work or
school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them. Avoid touching
your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
(5) Students, faculty or staff with influenza-like illness (fever with a cough
or sore throat) should stay home and not attend school or go into the community
except to seek medical care for at least 7 days even if symptoms resolve sooner.
Following the above recommendations will help maintain a healthy work
environment and calm the fears of fellow employees.
